Title: Mavyret Side Effects
Post by: 2ndchances on April 13, 2018, 09:56:57 pm
Hello, what a wonderful forum, I've been reading through some of the posts and it seems like a nice group of people here.
My questions are about Mavyret side effects. My boyfriend started it six weeks ago, he has acid reflux so severely that they agreed to give him Nexium even though they don't recommend it during tx. He also gets headaches, fatigue, and is suddenly always aggravated and not himself. I thought maybe it was the heartburn but it's not.
Also his Dr never did a 4 week blood test.
Is anyone else presently taking this medication? If so could you share a little bit with me about how you're doing? It would be really appreciated. He's got to finish two more weeks they recommended an 8 week course as his viral load was 400000. Thanks so much and really happy to meet all of you.

Hi and welcome

It is great your boyfriend has someone to support him on his path through treatment.

Headaches are the one of the most common side effects associated with most of the new DAA treatments. Most here suggest keeping properly hydrated seems to help the headaches. Drinking the recommended for everyone 8 or so 8 oz glasses a day of fluids should help with the headaches. Just simply by improving his headaches may help his mood as well.

Nexium can be taken on treatment as long as he follows instruction about when to take it relative to his dose of Mavyret. For Harvoni the instruction was to take at the same time.

On treatment testing especially for viral load is really of no value. It means little about his likelyhood if being successfully treated and if his result should be detected unnecessarily worrisome. The only viral load test that matters is the test done 12 weeks after treatment was finished. If not detected at that time he is considered cured.

I had one headache, and my heartburn improved. But I had and still have blurred vision and irritability. (Among few other things)

Thanks so much for your replies. He just finished his last dose last Sunday. He only missed one dose and 8 weeks and the doctor gave him a problem over at told him he may not be cured over missing one dose when he was really sick I was a little confused over that but there's nothing we could do now he missed it. All of his symptoms have since going away and he said he feels great so he had the blood test done on Tuesday we're just awaiting the results I'll keep everyone posted thank you for your support.

2ndchances,

The missed dose shouldn't matter.

All the best with the results!

A.
