Title: is this considered a risk
Post by: winkawak on March 05, 2019, 05:13:32 pm
shook hand with a mechanic who had a multiple cuts/nicks on his hand that werent active bleeding but had redness and slight blood on the cut that he didnt cover up. At the time i had a fresh probably few minutes old skin scrape on my hand that made contact with his cut/nicks. My scrape skin were non bleeding, seems top layer was peeled off, am i at risk?

Not yet, i think i can beat it myself. But i cant stop wondering him leaving traces of blood while replacing my airbags. Lets say in the next few days if i did end up with a superficial cut or something and ended up touching his blood that he left behind with my cut, is that a high risk?

No not really.

Only a very small percentage of the population even have hep c with more and more getting cured every day. So just randomly even encountering someone with hep c just isn’t that likely. Hep c was estimated at about 4% of the population before the new meds were approved I just saw a statistic that it is now more like 1%

People who know they have hep c tend to worry about accidently infecting others so we are kind of hyper aware and cautious if we have a cut. Also any hep c infected blood would have to enter your blood stream through an open fresh wound. A superficial scratch or abrasion is not an open wound. A deeper scratch that had bleed but has stopped bleeding is not an open wound.

There is no data for transmission on the situation you have described or any similar situation because a random happenstance like this is bordering on statistically impossible.

Best regards to you I hope you can find peace in your life

Ok but I’m not a medical professional or am I a counselor. So really maybe you might want to talk to an actual counselor one of these days
