Title: All Pregnant Women Should Get Early Hepatitis B Testing

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has reaffirmed its 2009 recommendation that all pregnant women should be tested for hepatitis B virus (HBV) at their first prenatal medical visit in order to open the door for efforts to prevent transmission of the virus to their babies, MedPage Today reports.

The task force has issued a draft recommendation statement on its website regarding the reaffirmation of this recommendation. This draft is open to public comment through February 4.
