Future Looks Bright for Potential Hep C Vaccine

Quote
Researchers in Paris have successfully completed testing of a novel preventive hepatitis C virus (HCV) vaccine in animal studies... The vaccine uses noninfectious virus-like particles, which resemble HCV but use none of its genetic material, to stimulate a broad neutralizing antibody response. In tests involving monkeys and mice, antibodies generated by the vaccine staved off several distinct strains of HCV, suggesting that the vaccine will remain viable even when the virus mutates.

With all the new drugs coming to TREAT Hep C I bet you it will be years before a real vaccine finds its way onto the market. I put the over/under at 10 years. :-\

Morgan, I couldn't have said it better. The next report will be about a problem with the vaccine or the company won't get funding and it will all just disappear into the ether.

Maybe right around the time they fix the dysfunction in Washington they will get this through so I say not in my lifetime for the over under.

Wow what a pessimistic lot today. I guess the market has got you down.

We have vaccines for Hep A and B. Why can't we develop one for Hep C? Sounds like they are working on it and with a little funding I hope we can be way under
