Nanorobot takes on hepatitis C virus, wins
« on: August 06, 2012, 03:10:20 pm »
Came across this great headline on something called GizMag
(http://www.gizmag.com/nanoparticles-hepatitis-c-university-florida/23379/)

Quote
A new scientific breakthrough points to a new way of treating the Hepatitis C virus, which infects 170 million people worldwide. Researchers at the University of Florida have created nanorobots that can attack the very mechanism of viral replication. It acts on a cellular level as a tiny particle destroys the mechanism that reproduces the proteins related to the disease.

It all sounds very science fiction like the Tom Selleck Runaway (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088024/) movie but if it works I'll take it!

Thanks sharing Tommy. Technology sounds very cool but probably also very far away from being reality.

btw I think your movie reference was off base though. This sounds more like the Dennis Quaid adventure flick Innerspace (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093260/).
