Black Box warning for Incivek
« on: December 19, 2012, 08:47:34 pm »
Anyone considering treatment right now needs to be aware of this...

FDA Gives Hep C Drug Incivek 'Black Box' Warning for Causing Fatal Skin Reactions
http://www.hepmag.com/articles/Incivek_Deaths_2501_23316.shtml

If you are taking the drug or considering it definitely be on the watch for the skin reactions. Article says bad reaction happens in less than 1 percent but it does happen and deaths are probably only a handful out of thousands but be careful!

Also note that Incivek triple therapy offers the highest percentage cure rate...  Yes, there are side-effects and yes they can be dangerous and yes you must carefully monitor treatment (and I suggest have a treatment buddy, it is that tough!) but until the next round of drugs are cleared in 2014 or 2015 - it is the best treatment available!
