How do you dispose of extra Hep C meds?
« on: July 16, 2013, 01:03:59 pm »
A friend of mine told me he has some extra meds from his hep C treatment. He's been trying to get rid of them but his doc and pharmacy said they won't take them. Any ideas how to safely get rid of them?

Someone made a suggestion of Dispose My Meds on a Facebook group I'm in.

http://www.disposemymeds.org/

Their tag line is...

"An online resource to help you to find medication disposal programs at the local independent community pharmacy near you."

i had some oxycodone left over from a operation i had a couple of years ago. was afraid to death someone would find it and do something with it. a friend suggested putting it in a plastic bag and using a spoon to break it into pieces. it can then be disposed of n garbage as it will break down naturally from that point.

Hello,
New user here but thought I could chime in. I have Incivek that I am going to give to my doctor . He said people are always needing some and I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. If doctor doesn't want them then I'm at a loss.

My gastroenterology nurse has been feeding me extra ribavirin pills. Not sure of legality, but I expect that she has been gathering them from people who don't want to finish off their own prescribed supply for some reason.
(Yes I am intimately familiar with the reasons but have not lost my sense of humor)

Hep-C  Meds are CDC  Federally Regulated Meds !

I gave my Extra Meds to the Hep-C  Clinic, I went to and they gave them to those
People who had No Insurance and Could not Afford Them !!
Some of them are Very Expensive !

Keep On Keeping On,
