Hep c and Lupus
« on: October 05, 2014, 09:54:57 am »
I am genotype 1b with stage 3 fibrosis, never been treated due to Lupus/autoimmune disease.   I will begin non interferon treatment this month and would like to hear from those who have Lupus and are being treated now.  I frequently have joint pain, flu-like symptoms and suspect that it will intensify during treatment.
Thanks for this forum I am learning so much already!

I would be very much interested in your experience. Although I don't know anyone w/ lupus who is on current ifn-free therapies, I do know a few people with autoimmune disorders who reported a reduction in their symptoms during ifn-free hcv treatment clinical trials. It was the first time they had a reduction in symptoms in decades.

That would be welcomed!  I have 30 plus years of living with autoimmune disease and I suppose Hep C too.  I'm not sure just when I was infected, but suspect it was late 1960's or early 70's.
I will keep you informed.

Are you on any meds for autoimmune? Do you have a high VL? Please let us know about the AI issues. I have some also.
