My last and thankful day!!!
« on: November 25, 2014, 10:38:23 am »
I just took my last Sovaldi! Tonight I will take my last Riba and then I am done!!! 24 weeks, 168 Sovaldi and 1008 Riba later and I feel great! Most of my side effects have been minimal; no bad anemia, headaches subsided a while ago, no pains, no brain fog, manageable nausea, no rash, insomnia was the worst, but Ambien was a life saver.

As we approach Thanksgiving I am so incredibly thankful!

Thankful to God for loving me through it all.
Thankful that I waited for this treatment and had such a smooth ride!
Thankful for the researchers who developed it.
Thankful for the patients who participated in the trials and for the many who have paved the way before me.
Thankful that my insurance finally approved it.
Thankful for my wonderful doctor who advocated for me, and helped me immensely to get my insurance to cover the treatment.
Thankful for the copay card from Gilead.
Thankful for my husband and his never ending love and support.
Thankful for this community who helped me feel connected, supported, informed and gave me a safe place to go when I needed to whine a little.

Next week I get my end of treatment viral load test and I feel confident that it will remain undetected. Then in 3 months I trust that I too can say the words "I'm cured"!!

Wishing you all a Thankful Day too!

Krissy

Hi Krissy,
Glad you are feeling good. My last day on the same combo 24 weeks is Dec. 17.
I too feel confidence the treatment has worked, I feel slow healing in my body.
I don't want to get graphic, but the color of stools is a good indicator of the liver shape. Mine are a beautiful brown, (sorry) but it is important. Shows the liver is in a healthy state, bilirubin if high then will be pale.
I'm going to Disneyland with 2 of my Grand Daughters next week and I am up to it.
Hope in 3-4 months to be celebrating our SVR together.

Congratulations Krissy! 24 weeks is a long time and I hope you reach SVR in 12 weeks. Honestly, I don't see how you wouldn't with 24 weeks of tx.

This really is the season for so many of us to express our gratitude, and I am ever so grateful for the NP who gave me my script for the S/O when the doctors wouldn't. Mostly I am thankful for people like you and these forums that have kept me going and offered so much good advice. Thank you everyone!

RainbowRay, my last day is also December 17, but I did the Sovaldi/Olysio and only for 12 weeks.

Did you know that the odds of SVR at one week after eot are something like 94-96% the same as they will be at week 12 eot? I say this because rather than doing a VL at eot, it makes sense to wait a mere week and be more assured of SVR then if you do the VL right at the of eot. Course for us, that would be Christmas Eve and I wonder if the labs are open. :)

Took my last Pegasys shot last night, this is my last week, Dec. 8th is my last day taking the pills! Can't wait to get off from my dependency on sleeping pills this past week and can't wait to feel "normal" again!!!

RainbowRay, my last day is also December 17, but I did the Sovaldi/Olysio and only for 12 weeks.

Hi Gulee,

That was a big day for me. I remember my last shot (4/11/14). I was so glad not to see any more of those injection pens in my refrigerator!

Congratulations from someone who has been on INTF and knows what a milestone it is to finish that stuff (for good I might add).

A few more pills and the dragon is slayed!

Best wishes, Mike
