Harvoni Blood Test (viral load) Results - at day 12
« on: December 10, 2014, 05:44:11 pm »
I got the results back today, from my 1st Viral Load blood test.

Started Harvoni November 21 - viral load 313,593.
First blood test December 03 - viral load 19! (12 days into Tx)

Also got my 12 year post kidney cancer annual results back today - NED (No Evidence of Disease)!

Harvoni side effects are pretty minimal. I get tired and/or ill to my stomach if I exert myself much. But that's about it really.

I'm feeling pretty good right now!

I am hoping that everybody gets this Tx and we all get into the 100% club!

Mel, My hepatologist was telling me that the liver will replenish itself even at the cirrhosis level.  It seems that there is hope out there!

I sure hope so Roger, I could use some replenish, actually my IDhero said the same thing to me. Time will tell, right now I am going through the treatment and my VL was about gone 5 weeks ago, hoping the blood test yesterday shows that it's really gone, my poor liver needs some healing time.

hey Roger,
thanks for getting back to me. It's weird because my viral load at beginning before treatment was five million. My alt and my AST we're very similar to yours. My bilirubin was .1 before treatment started and at this point last test was .4. hoping that your  next test results get better. I just get scared because I still have this pain on my right side. Hopefully it's just the after effects of the inflammation... Thanks for responding. Keep us up on the Intel... Best wishes sunrise

I started Harvoni on Dec, 1st and will be getting my first round of blood work on Monday.  Amy

Amy, My doc's nurse ordered my blood test "without" viral load!
I had to call her and have her update the order - which meant "2" blood tests for me.

I've got most my docs programmed to test my blood how "I" want - in addition to what "they" want - but this one slipped by me so I had to go back for another poke!

If you don't have VL added to your bloodwork order - you won't get it. So ask (tell), to be sure - in advance!

I know when I went to see the doctor after my last blood test which was the 8-week test he was so angry because they did not put the order in for the viral load. It was the fault of the patient advocate and I had even asked her and she said no I didn't need it done then. So my next test is next Monday. that will be my 12 week test end of treatment. I'm really getting scared about relapse I hope to God I don't. I must get my 4, 12, 24 week EOT.maybe when that's all done I won't be stressing so hard

Sunrise,

Stressing is bad for you and honestly what control do we have over this crazy virus we share? We can stop drinking alcohol and eat as healthy as possible. Take our medications the same day every day and listen to our doctors advise. Beyond that it's out of our hands so just relax and know that if nothing else your liver is getting a serious break. Whatever happens with us and our current treatment we know AbbieV is coming along soon with another great option, we know that our chances of beating this right now is above 90% so if 100 people take it and 10 don't make it and then they those ten try the next treatment then only 1 (if we are only at 90%) out of the ten is left incured. That's how my IDhero explained it to me.

He said we are going to beat this, he's doing all the trials and is very involved. I'm a little worse off than you and he has no doubt we will cure me so stop worrying and start smiling! You may already be SVR and just need to wait it out :)

Thanx Mel
I guess I just needed the pep talk. Today's been a rough day. I hope you're doing better now that your itchy rash is going away. I have 7 days left of my treatment in a way it's really exciting and in a way it's really scary, but you're right there's no need to stress I have to leave it in the hands of the doctors and know I will be cured eventually. I surely do appreciate the support thank you sweetie you take care of yourself I hope you're feeling better... Sunrise

Thanks Sunrise,

I'm so much better now that I'm not taking the Olysio, but still it got me to Undetected so every scratch and sleepless itching night was worth it!! I'm so happy to be on Harvoni now. I just can keep hoping one day I will be SVR as well.

oh hi Roger
well actually I'm on the S/O treatment I am genotype 1a I've had it for approximately 23 years my viral load to begin with before treatment was five million. My liver was becoming inflamed luckily I have always stage f0 to f1. Amazing as I have been no angel. One good thing is I'm not a big drinker never have been. My alt and my AST were right at the high end of within range now they are down to 17 an I had to start this treatment of S / 0 because I was approved and the doctor wanted to start me as soon as possible. I guess that's it in a nutshell. Hope you're doing well getting ready for the holiday.... Mel sure knows how to cheer a girl up :-)
