Gilead Goes with CVS Pharmacy

This is capitalism as it was meant to be. Only half kidding.

Since Express Scripts will only provide AbbVie, now CVS will only provide Gilead. Choice is a very good thing.

Yes for those that have a choice. My employer has multiple health plans but all use express scripts

My insurance uses CVS. Makes sense now why they wouldn't fill until 1/2015. My guess is they negotiated a lower price starting in 2015. Took 2 months and patience but I take my first Harvoni tonight.
PS, On the Harvoni bottle it says "Made in Ireland". Is this an example of corporate tax inversion?

Congratulations Donk. For some of us it takes a lot of patience and time to get these drugs so I'm glad to hear it finally came through for you.

My insurance, BCBS, uses express scripts for the mail in prescriptions. However my doc went through Walgreen's specialty pharmacy and they are awesome. They completed the $5 co-pay forms from Gilead for me and FedEx my Harvoni. I'm getting it 21 pills at time (4x) and only have to pay $5 per refill. I never new that there were  "specialty" pharmacies.

Express scripts won't allow us to use anyone but them for speciality pharmacy on warning they will only allow 2 fills at another pharmacy at the copay for using another local speciality pharmacy for the first two fills is $12,032.45 after that copay is $40,108.18 for each months supply. Captive audience.

Because of that I had to wait at home till 4:30 pm to sign for my meds. I work second shift so I was 2 hours late for work. As opposed to just driving into the city at my convienience to pick up meds with out being late to work.

In short I do not like Express Scripts except after numerous phone calls and emails and denials for meds they do provide the service my employer pays them for.

John, I noticed you are going through walgreens for your meds but BC handles your RX's, you should check with BC about this, if your ins has a contract they may not let walgreens fill all three months. For example, when i was on triple therapy a different pharmacy than caremark filled my first rx, then caremark took it over, the same was going to happen with my harvoni, i made them go through caremark to start so i would not have any problems, when i called caremark they told me they usually will let one month go through and then take over. Your ins may be different but it may be worth a call.
