UND at 3 weeks of Harvoni treatment
« on: March 05, 2015, 10:44:02 pm »
I got an awesome call today from my Gastro's nurse. My blood tests from Monday came back all normal and my viral load is already UND at 3 weeks!!!!!

This news makes me feel better about all the side effects I've had. I know the Harvoni is working. I know I can push on through the rest of treatment.

I'll see my Gastro on Monday and get a copy of the blood tests for myself.

Great news Ruthie!!! I have my 4 week blood draw next week and I am super excited and nervous. I had bloodwork done at 2 weeks but no viral load, my alt and AST practially cut in half and platelets went up above 200 so I was super happy! How are your sides right now? Getting any better? Keep it up!!! Congrats on UND!!

TY, Mom!

Some side effects are much better. The sores have calmed down. My kidneys no longer hurt.

Unfortunately, I'm having a lot of pain in my upper right abdomen now. I'm in contact with my Gastro about it. My fear is pancreatitis. But, I detest going to my local ER. I have Hep C, so I must be a drug addict; therefore, they won't help me. Back in August I broke my ankle, because I'm graceful, and I had to beg them for ibuprofen. So, I'm taking ibuprofen and Tylenol and using a heating pad. It's painful. I will break down and go to the ER if I have to.

Great news on your lab tests! I can't wait to see mine with my own eyes.

How are you feeling? Is everything ok with the kiddos?

I'm really glad to hear the mouth ulcers have calmed down! Mouth problems are so debilitating! I hope the abdomen pains are nothing!!! Keep me posted! Kiddos are good they all just got over a cold and I feel I may be catching it!!! Fingers crossed I dont!! Also spring break is starting!!! Yayyy no 6 am wake ups lol unless baby decides to party at 6 am , which I really hope not! Lol They keep my mind off of everything.

treatment has  been flying by! Day 24 today :) I am feeling fine... No sides at all worries me a bit at times, hope it's working. I am still hesitant that 8 weeks is enough so I am going to be bringing this up again on Tuesday.

Things will settle for you I am sure!!! Hang in there!!

Congrats guys!  I'm sorry about your sides Ruthie - I'm past my 12 wk tx and still have some of those - but not to the extent yours are.

Damn ER attitude!  I'm so sorry you had to go through that.  My first GI had that attitude and treated me like I must be addicted to alcohol or ??? and just wouldn't fess up.  I stayed with him long enough to have a biopsy done and determine that I was genotype 1b, refused treatment that would not have helped me and told him I'd work with my pcp.  I also told him politely but firmly that his manner with patients was not acceptable to me.  Too bad a person can't do that with people like you encountered in the ER.  Feel a big comforting hug - hang in there guys - hugs to all ....Islandgirl 8)

I broke down and went to the ER because the abdominal pain was so bad. They gave me pain meds! It didn't last long, but they gave me some. They think it's gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). That makes total sense because the Harvoni hurts my stomach a lot. The ER doc did some research and prescribed Zantac to take 12 hours apart from Harvoni.

Oh Ruthie, I'm so sorry.  I'm glad you got an ER doc who tried to be helpful and from times I've had to take my mom to the ER in pain, they certainly do lots of tests that rule out some of the scary stuff.  I'll be anxious to see how the Zantac works and what your Harvoni doc has to say.  Take it easy and get some rest today.  Hope you are feeling better by  now.  Hugs,  ...Islandgirl

TY, islandgirl. I actually see my Gastro tomorrow, he prescribed Harvoni. So far the Zantac isn't working, but it's only been an hour since I took it.

I was very pleased with the ER staff last night. They were very nice.  My nurse was a bit scatter brained, but she was so nice, it totally made up for it.

Gastro put me on Prilosec. He thinks it's stomach acid plus inflammation in my ribs and stomach.

He doesn't want to see me again or have blood tests for 4 months, which is 3 months after EOT.  It kinda worries me. But, I'll be worried regardless for a year LOL

I got my blood test results:

Before treatment-AST 26
ALT 39
HCV RNA, PCR 3532681
Viral load 6.548

After 3 weeks-AST 15
ALT 19
HCV RNA, PCR not detected!
Viral load not detected!

I keep staring at my blood tests.  It's amazing seeing the two tests side-by-side!

Just got test results after three weeks of Harvoni. My viral load is <20 IU/mL. That's good, right? No comment or context from my doctor/pharmacist, but I see that a sustained virus response after 12 weeks is anything under 50 IU/mL. So I take it that I'm on the right track? Any opinions?

You're definitely on the right track, atomic dog!! Under 20 is practically undetected. I read somewhere on here that Gilead considers under 25 to be UND. So, congratulations, you're winning the war!!!!!!
