Re: Hep C treatment: My husband was treated for 12 weeks, July - August 2014 with Olysio and Sovaldi. Viral loads went to 0 but a month after treatment ended, the virus was back. He's now 2 months into a second course of treatment, Harvoni/Ribavarin for 24 weeks.
He has started to develop a rash, which looks fungal, like ringworm/Tinea. Has anyone had this reaction, a fungal rash, from Harvoni/Ribavarin. I suspect the Ribavarin is the cause but not sure.

A rash is a common side effect of Ribavirin if you still have the piece of paper we all throw away the prescribing information sheet it lists many things including common and less common side effects

Here is a link to the Mayo clinic list of side effects and one to the prescribing information sheet

http://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/ribavirin-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20071471

For the Ribavirin some of the sides listed also include interferon as that is how it was originally prescribed

http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2011/021511s023lbl.pdf

If side effects are worrisome contact your doctor they may have suggestions how to best relieve side effects like riba rash

I am also a Sovaldi Olysio relapse as well now taking Harvoni for a total of 24 weeks just starting week 17. My doctor added riba after I started finally got the riba at week 9 so I will be taking riba for 15 weeks of the 24

Good luck
