Hello All,
I must have got Hep C in the 70s and found out in 2003.  I tried to get rid of it with Interferon and Ribavirin and after 6 months it didn't work.  9 years later it gave me liver cancer.  I was told I had to get a transplant.  I tried two more times to get rid of it but couldn't, Telepravir gave me the worst rash and Boceprevir didn't work.  I got the transplant a year later (I had to have chemo emboiization on my liver to slow it down).  I felt so blessed but I still had Hep C.  I started to worry again about it ruining my new liver.
Finally they got a new drug, Harvoni!  It's been a month and I was undetected after 2 weeks.  I have to take Ribavirin with it because I'm a tough case.  I have fatigue and lots of anxiety but I've had that for years now.  I'm constantly worrying about my health.  I think the Ribavirin makes the worrying even worse but it could be the Harvoni.  I'm so grateful for this Forum.  Hep C is something that feels embarrassing to talk about to people who don't have it.  I had someone step back when I told them I had it once and I stopped telling people after that.

Good Luck to all of us in the fight against Hep C!!
Diagnosed 2003 with Hep C and cirrhosis but probably got hep c in the 70s
Tried Interferon and ribavirin for 6 months - no luck - 2003
Diagnosed 2011 with liver cancer and told I needed a liver transplant
Tried Telepravir and ribavirin to clear up Hep C before transplant - got bad rash and had to quit
Tried Bocepavir and ribaviran - didn't work
Got transplant in Jan. 2012 but still had Hep C
Started Harvoni and ribavirin on Feb. 11 - undetected after 2 weeks!!

Wow, how awesome that you're UND!

Thanks for your post. It helps me to keep on going with the Harvoni, horrid side effects and all.

Oh it's worth it Ruthie.  Hep C is a sneaky disease.  I had it for about 30 years before I ever knew anything and didn't feel any real pain.  Then to hear I had liver cancer, I thought it was a death sentence.  I've never been the same.  But it wasn't and I'm just so grateful.

Keep on keeping on DogLover! That new liver will love you more when that nasty Hep C is gone. Sending your liver love and light. You're right! None of the side effects from the medicine come close to what being left untreated can do you.  :)
