Alpha-Fetoprotein Tumor Marker blood test is specific for cancer in the liver.

AFP-L3% is the test, 0.0-8.0 is normal range.

If you have not had this done, ask your Doctor.  Probably has done it but you did not have information. Ask as good to know to relieve your mind, and since you are F-4 needs to be done probably twice a year. It is just a blood draw.

Get treatment going as soon as possible, thats the best way to approach this.
Good treatment are now around, and you should qualify with no issues being F-4 and if you have insurance.

Well, Stress is not good for the liver.
Abstain from Alcohol and other things that harm.
Also f-4 can be in early stage and if treated successfully may reverse.
It's good your going foward.

The CT scan is much more accurate than the AFP - AFP is a marker, but it is frequently elevated in hep C pts, esp with cirrhosis. Now is a great time for treatment.

Freaking out is a reasonable response at this point - it takes time to come to terms with this. You will see amazing stories here of how people came to live with their cirrhosis, and in some cases cancer.

It will get better. Bring your fears here, and hopefully, you will leave with courage and hope.

The road is surprisingly long, even when you think you are at the end.

My fiancee' was diagnosed with Hep in 1994.  He has been taking H2o2 IV Therapy treatments for years and his count went down.  He was going 2 times a week.  Well, the past 2 years he kinda slacked.  He started feeling bad again to where his joints in his hands where in pain.  He couldn't even make a fist.  He went back for treatment with same Dr.  His blood test came back :  HCV RNA, PCR QUANT 8451764, HCV VIRAL LOG 6.927, BUN 6, SGOT(AST) 51,PLATELET COUNT 74, & T4 15.3.  Can you explain this to me?

He has hep c and needs to be treated with the new medicines

Hydrogen peroxide treatment cannot cure hep c of have any effect on the virus and the progression of liver disease.

Viral load in hep c varies all the time for everyone.

See a hepatologist or gastroenterologist, get treated with the newly FDA approved medicines, get cured
