New Hep C Treatment Guidelines!
« on: April 23, 2015, 01:12:12 pm »
The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) has jut issued revised guidelines for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV). Here's an overview:

-Europe has the same approved hep C therapies as the United States, with the addition of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Daklinza (daclatasvir), which currently is under review by the FDA for those with genotype 3 of HCV.

-Those with more advanced liver disease, or who have other health problems such as HIV or hepatitis B virus (HBV), are still prioritized for hep C treatment.

-For genotype 3, EASL now recommends 12 weeks of Daklinza + Sovaldi for those without cirrhosis and 24 weeks of the two drugs + ribavirin for those with compensated cirrhosis.
