Elavated Ast & Alt 16 weeks post treatment
« on: June 10, 2015, 05:01:57 pm »
Hi Everyone, I was still undetected 12 weeks post Harvoni treatment on 12 week eot test my ast was slightly elavated.I had my dr do a CMP last week and my ast was 81 and my alt was 52. I had him do a iron test also because  this was high in the past this was now normal as was everything else. With Hcv my enzymes would be more highly elavated with alt twice what ast is this time ast is higher. What do you think anyone ?

Mikee... check out this article:
http://www.journal-of-hepatology.eu/article/S0168-8278(13)60850-8/pdf

You will see that once you are SVR12, there is practically NO chance of relapse... SVR12 correlates with SVR24 to the tune if 99.8% of the time.  Even SVR4 correlates with SVR24 99% of the time.  The odds are minuscule, as you can see, that youll have any issue with viral load in the future, given your SVR12 status of UND.

As for the liver enzymes, any lifestyle reasons they might be elevated?
Paul

Out of curiosity, what is your exact creatine level and GFR? Any other kidney-related labs?

Intense physical workout all by itself can raise liver enzymes above normal. I think you will find references to that if you google it.

Here is something on that:

Mike, your creatinine level is not too bad. Mine is consistently in the 1.6 range.

From experience, I know the GFR can vary. If your levels are below 60 for three months in a row, you may want to ask for a urine test to see if you're spilling any protein in your urine.

How's your blood pressure?

I'm in the 164/90 range but I have kidney issues.  Having said that, Harvoni does raise BP in some of us. I'm hoping that mine drops some after I've finished treatment.

If you ate bacon before that test, yours is probably fine, lol.
