12 weeks after finishing harvoni
« on: June 30, 2015, 09:39:51 pm »
I recieved some of my blood results... I am super happy that all my counts came back in all normal range again, I am hoping this means good things! My viral load results usually take a bit longer. My question is can the ALT level get too low? It came back At 8. My levels keep declining since I started treatment and seem to keep going down even after being off the meds now for 12 weeks. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
My results were  ALT 8  AST 15  platelets 207

Great news that the liver enzymes are normal/low and platelets normal.
That bears good tidings for things to come!

Not sure if there can be a too low....

Hi I am sure you will be hearing very good news soon

https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/alt/tab/test/

What does the test result mean?

Normally, levels of ALT in the blood are low.

http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/alanine-aminotransferase-alt?page=2

Males:
10–40 units per liter (U/L) or 0.17–0.68 microkatals per liter (mckat/L)

Females:
7–35 U/L or 0.12–0.60 mckat/L

http://www.livestrong.com/article/303552-low-levels-of-alanine-aminotransferase/

Low ALT Levels

While most low ALT level results indicate a normal healthy liver, that may not always be the case. A low-functioning or non-functioning liver, lacking normal levels of ALT activity to begin with, would not release a lot of ALT into the blood when damaged. People infected with the hepatitis C virus initially show high ALT levels in their blood, but these levels fall over time. Because the ALT test measures ALT levels at only one point in time, people with chronic hepatitis C infection may already have experienced the ALT peak well before blood was drawn for the ALT test. Urinary tract infections or malnutrition may also cause low blood ALT levels.

But as long as you are in normal range you are normal and have nothing to worry about. Also different labs have different reference ranges for mine the range is on my lab slip.
