Harvoni clearing skin lesions?
« on: July 07, 2015, 04:36:48 pm »
Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has any information on Harvoni tx clearing up skin lesions?

About six to eight months ago I developed a small (about 1/2 cm) whitish patch of skin on my chest that would occasionally flake dry skin. About 2 months ago this patch of skin began to raise up, got red with a bumpy appearance and got larger (1 cm) and had a whitish spot in the middle. It also itched. When I would press on it there was no pain so I went to see the doctor last week on Tuesday about it and he referred me to dermatologist. That was 4 days after I started Harvoni.

Now 7 days later this lesion has shrunk till it is almost even with the skin surface after growing for two months.Has anyone else had anything like this? I am wondering if the lesion was caused by HCV and is the Harvoni causing it too get better? Lucinda - any insights???

Any and all insights appreciated!!!!

I don't think the Harvoni is directly clearing the lesions - I think it is clearing hep C, and the hep C were causing the lesions. And yes, I've seen this happen before, regardless of the drug that is defeating the virus.

Thank you Lucinda for your thoughts on this! I am just amazed at how quickly my health is turning around on this Tx. So many things - aches, pains, skin, joints that had affected my life for years now that I just attributed to "getting old" are all clearing up with Harvoni. What a blessing this is!!!

Hi Redbird
I had been suffering from severe itchy skin for the past few years
I was literally tearing my skin off of my arms and legs from scratching so much
About  a week or so into Harvoni my itching has completely stopped (YAY!!)
It was the HCV and once Harvoni started to clear it the itching just stopped
Too bad I am left with all the nasty scars but ...no more itching Woo hoo!!!

Hi Debula!
That is great!!! I daily look at myself and think "Wow, you are looking better and better every day ;D!" My skin is not so crepe like and dry and like I said that lesion, though still there, has cleared up tremendously. Makes be believe the Harvoni is working miracles on my liver!
I also want to say congrats on your UND's!!! Am tickled to see when this tx is really making a difference and gives me hope for all of those following in our footsteps!
Peace out~Robin
