Started Viekira Pak + Ribavirin, with break down from OxyC.

Hello everybody, today is my 11 day of Viekira Pak with 800 mg rib.
Gen 1b, F4.
In the past i made treatment with interferon whit out luck, stopped treatment because of the problem with the thyroid. Now I'm treated for thyroid with eltroxin 150 mg/day.

In the past 8 m i have myself  treatment with oxycontin for pains after an car accident, everyday 20 or 40 mg. My gastroenterologist was very strong anti to take all this kind of opiats and ibuprofens for pain.So pls,dont judge me, I  know was stupid, because i did this.
Preparing for treatment i decide to break down from OC on the beginning of the treatment. In the first  days i respond to OC withdraw very hard and i decide to reduce my dose. 2 days I have only 10 mg,2 days - 5 mg. Today I reduce to 2-3 mg, i suppose to get another day or two 2-3 mg and then to stop.
Today i feel not too bad.I hope to finish this bad dream in the next days, and concentrate to my hep treatment.
I feel ashamed to talk with my gastroenterologist what i mashed and also afraid to stop the treatment.
I want to ask if somebody have the same experience and how you treated this problem?
I will update the post with my condition and treatment progress.

Hi Sven and welcome to the forums!
Please don't be ashamed to talk to your doc. You want this treatment to have the best possible outcome. I do not have experience with what you are going through, but maybe someone else will post who does.
I am on vpak and riba too. 19 days till EOT. Undetected at 3 to 4 weeks.

Hi Sven and welcome.

Were you able to taper off? Oxycontin is a strong medication and that is amazing if you were able to reduce and then stop on your own. How are you holding up?

Hi Everybody!

First of all thanks to Sapphire101 and Prudence for your reply.

Im backing with good news. Today is my third day without OC and 15 day of treatment with Viekira and riba.
I find the right way to break down with slowly reducing the dose. I feel not too bad, working,driving motorcycle, eating well. Of course i have some probs with sleeping, feeling weak,fatigued, headache, but we should know before for all this bad symptoms.
Now I'm trying to be mo' calm ,may be the next days  will reduce my work and physical activity also.

Hello everybody.

I back again with good news. First I feel far from OC, everything gone with sure!

Second i get the results from first tests and  Alt decrease from 250 to 41,AST from 230 to 45. I think  the treatment is working. RBC - 4.30,Hemoglobin - 13...

The Only problem is that TSH get rise to 8.2 mlu/l. I  take everyday 100mg eltroxin.
Waiting from my dr response... I'm a little bit worry around my thyroid,because in the past the interferon treatment  cause me thyroid problem.
Does somebody of you have the same problem, high levels of TSH during the treatment?

Im so happy to find you all here in this forum, it is really useful for us at that moment  to get feedbacks and discuss each other.
The doctors and nurses are too busy to talk to patients.
Im waiting for VL results and to talk with my doc about thyroid.

I just get my first vl results:
HCV RNA detected less than
12 IU /ml
What that mean? Here is my first place to ask?
Today is 22 day of my treatmant with VP+Rib.

Hi Sven,
Yes that is Good news. From your previous posts this result is Detected less than 12IU/ml.  It means that the virus is detected but it is so low that it is below the capabilities of the test to count the actual viral load. Yes,my first results definitely make me feel more optimistic and positive.
Now i know - VP work!

So happy I'm not on the oxyc anymore and feel pretty well!

The most common side effect I feel is headache and physical weakness.
I'm  thinking of those who have 24 weeks...
