Breathing Problems anyone else???
« on: August 02, 2015, 11:17:23 pm »
Hi Folks,

I am so glad that this forum is here for all.  I am geno 3 - Rib & Solvodia 24 wk TX.  On week 15. I have had usual side effects.  Blood tested every 30 days. Hemoglobin fine.  Four weeks ago started having breathing problems.  X smoker and tested for COPD and had lungs x rayed.  Lungs clear and no COPD.  I was retaining water and doc gave me a diuretic and lost a lot of water weight, helped with breathing problems, but still have hard time getting air.  Anyone  out there with this problem?  Any advice will really make me feel that I will be ok.  I am virus free on 4th week, but can not deal with this breathing problem.  Anyone have suggestions to help me get through the next two months.  I am about to give up on this  therapy!!!  I am scared I will never be able to breath right again.  I use to run even on therapy and I can't even walk up the street fearing I may not make it back.  I am now seeing a cardiologist  and scheduled for a eco cardiogram to see if my heart is ok.  I am losing hope!!!

It's the Ribavirin. You're not having a heart attack (but checking your heart and lungs is a VERY good idea). Breathing issues are a side effect of Ribavirin. I'm having them also, albeit I don't think as much as you do. I'm only on week 2 also.

Usually, it's the hemoglobin. If it goes down, you might experience it. Even if "your hemoglobin is fine" - you'll still experience this if it went lower than what you started with. I think.

Don't listen to me. Go see a doctor.

Thanks for your reply.  I have heard its the Rib, but not his bad.  Does anyone know if breathing is better after therapy and how long does it take?  I am planning a trip to the pacific ocean to chill after this therapy and pat my self on the back.  I live in the south and taking my Golden Retriever with me.  He has gotten me through this more then anyone I know.  Could not have done it with out him.  My breathing gets worse as the day heats up.  I am glad I am getting all these tests.  As my insurance deductible is now met and very little out of pocket.  God bless everyone on this site.
Also, since the breathing problems my nose is always runny and stuffed up.
