Adding Ribaviron to Harvoni.
« on: May 18, 2015, 10:16:06 pm »
My doctor, after my prodding and some of results of cirrhotic, relapsers (like me!) I've seen here, has prescribed riba for the last 8 weeks out of 24 weeks on Harvoni. Even though Ive been undetected since week 2. I asked. Im willing to put up with the nasty riba side effects to give Harvoni more oomph. I really don't want to ever go through this again. And I probably won't. Of course Im hoping for the best but being pragmatic, I'm not sure that I'd treat again if I don't get SVR. Who knows? I'm exhausted and have extreme joint pain. Add the riba. YAY. Look out anemia, here I come. Get the procrit ready!
This ain't my first rodeo.
Tomorrow is Hep C global testing day. Come out of your closet and ask your friends to get tested before they need a liver transplant!

Good luck TPropane! And don't forget that the hemolytic anemia caused by ribavirin takes a few weeks to develop. So with you only being on riba for last 8 weeks, you might not even feel that effect for the first 4 weeks of it. I am on Day 19 of Harvoni + 1,000 mg Ribavirin and still feeling fine.

I hope it goes well for you. Sounds like you are nearly there! :)
