Harvoni vs Viekira Pak ( Round 2 )
« on: September 09, 2015, 09:33:20 am »
If anyone is feeling slighted because they could ( only ) get approved for viekira pak, I'm here to tell you that viekira pak ( imho ) is just as effective as harvoni. It is not nearly as popular, and I guess I don't fully understand that but in my case ( started 12 wks viekira pak w/o riba) on 8-18-2015. I had  2 wk blood work done and I am very encouraged......VL went from 4,036,357 to 24, and ALT 33 to 12. I'm not 100% sure of what that all means but I'm pretty sure it is good news. I am just posting this for those who feel that they should have been prescribed harvoni and got viekirs pak instead. I hope I can be of a little encouragement to you.  Stay the course my friends and let us all slay that evil dragon.
Best wishes for you all and I will keep you all updated and thank you all for being an encouragement to me.

I guess another issue is GT 1a have to take Ribavirin with Viekira pak but don't have to with Harvoni. Also 1 pill a day vs I believe 5 in the Viekira Pak plus 5 or 6 Ribavirin at different times through the day makes for a more complex regimen but if it was all my insurance would approve and the numbers looked good for my situation I would go for it
