HCV Epidemic Hits Harder Among African Americans
« on: September 23, 2015, 11:14:40 am »
The 2015 Kelly Report on Health Disparities in America recently discussed some pretty shocking statistics about the state of the hepatitis C epidemic among African Americans. Some key findings:

—While African Americans comprise about 13 percent of the U.S. population, they represent 25% of all hepatitis C cases.

—For African Americans ages 45 to 65 years old, hepatitis C-related chronic liver disease is the leading cause of death.

—The good news is, with new direct acting agents, African Americans are finally experiencing the same high HCV cure rates as Caucasians.
