Anyone having positive side effects?
« on: September 28, 2015, 02:02:55 pm »
Or is it even considered a "side-effect" if it's good?  ???  Possibly just that the medication (Harvoni in my case) is working amazing fast and well?

Constant joint pain that was especially severe in the a.m. is gone.  It never kept me completely sedentary but it was a constant in my life for at least a decade.  I'd become accustomed to getting out of bed in the morning like a bear gets out of a cave after many months of hibernation... slowwwwly.  Now?  No pain.  NONE!  I actually put in some serious hard labor in the yard yesterday.  I should be a wreck today.  Nope.  Not sore, not even tired.

Mentally "clearer" than I've felt in 20 years.  This is a tougher one to describe, as was the "not clear" state - groggy and a complete inability to retain new information.  Near as I can tell, my cognitive abilities are improving daily.  Or returning to normal, I guess.  I just forgot what normal felt like!

The "sand-bag-booties-around-my-ankles" fatigue is also improving by leaps and bounds.

To anyone starting or considering starting treatment with Harvoni - don't hesitate!  I'm only 2 weeks in to a 12 wk course of treatment.  It can be a wonderful thing.  :D

Oh, yes -- POSITIVE side effects! What ELSE would they be called?

ELSEwhere, you described Harvoni as "a buzzy, stimulating medication." Someone on these forums referred to the "Harvoni high." Both accurately describe what I've experienced. Despite my great love of nature photography, for the previous maybe three years I'd been having to drag my butt out of bed before sunrise to get on location for the "golden hour," but while on Harvoni, that's become easy again.

No difference in overall joint pain (yet), but my mind seems more agile and my reflexes seem faster. Else, in another thread you'd already put your clarity to good use when you classified Harvoni as "completeable." Indeed: I'm just 2 pills from the end.

More good days than bad days.  More energy.  Better color in my face and I look younger.  Apatite is unbelievable maybe too good, can't stop stuffing my pie hole.
I have not had that peripheral pain in feet and ankles but, that was waning before the meds...but still.

Cognitive.  I have read elsewhere that after HCV cure or remission, cognition gets better.  Beyond brain fog; are memory and reasoning issues many report as part of the Hep C experience.  I can't say that I have had strong improvement, but have had moments of clarity and memory return come out of nowhere.  Though fleeting, it has been nice.

gnatty...good to see your words again, stranger.  5 more pills for me.  There is a countdown thread been circulating and your name has been brought up, stared by Drummerman.  Of course we ended up horsing around with Tommy in the end.

I am happier despite being unwell. My brain is definitely starting to fire on it's own, without that pesky 5 minute wait while the filing system retrieves a word.  I have moments when I feel good for no reason. Forgot about that feeling. Cal :)

For me, a strong since of well-being.  I really like it.  I just finished and it has been hard to say goodbye to Harvoni.  I hope the feeling lasts and this is what being free of hepc feels like.  Clearer skin,  clearer eyes, sometimes better sleep, peace of mind... smiling and being nice to strangers, being in touch with what's important, new hope, I could go on.....
