6 months after 8 wk treatment of harvoni

Its been awhile since I've been on the forum I'm doing well I got my 6 month blood work n GI Dr never received results so I went to the the lab n they printed my results out it says undetected which I've been undetected every week while on harvoni I'm very excited but I have a question my results are as follows hcv quant,pcr, iu/ml <15  hcv quant,pcr, log iu <1.2 so wat does this mean? I'm waiting for GI Dr to receive results and call me but I'm very impatient n it was a long road to get where I am today any help would b appreciated thanks

I think it means undetected.

The instruments cant read anything below 15 so they are telling you there is NOTHING above 15.

I think it is good news ..... but let the doc confirm that one.

Hi, anniemybaby -- The fact that it says undetected is what's important. <15 is just stating the test's sensitivity: it can count amounts >=15, but below 15 it can only tell whether or not it detects any virus present. The exact wording on your report depends on which company ran the test. For example, Quest Diagnostics explains its test results on its web site as follows: A "<15 Detected" means the assay was able to detect HCV RNA but was not able to accurately quantitate the viral load. A "<15 Not Detected" means the assay did not detect HCV RNA . . . .

Thank you gnatcatcher n boatguy I've never understood any of my blood work throughout this whole treatment do I still need to worry bout my blood being infected I mean I've been so scared at work if I cut my finger or had a nosebleed I literally been a nervous wreck I'm a cna n that's how I was infected with the virus

You've been undetected for so long now that if you cut your finger or have a nosebleed you won't be infecting someone else. As to whether you can get reinfected by contact with someone else's infected blood, when you have a nosebleed how would you get the other person's blood inside of you? If you cut your finger, though, you would want to wear protection over it so that if you have to touch someone's blood you're not at risk. Doesn't the place where you work have rules stating how you are supposed to do this? For example, do they require you to wear gloves? I would imagine medical settings use gloves that provide a barrier to blood.
