Harvoni plus Ribavirin 12 weeks?

Anyone here being treated with Harvoni and Ribavirin for 12 weeks?  This doesn't seem like a standard practice, any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks

Hi Pete. I completed 12 weeks of Harvoni+ribavirin in July. I believe I am cured now but will have confirmation (SVR12) at end of this month. I was genotype 3a and received my drugs through a clinical trial in Canada.

One of the forum moderators, Lucinda Porter, was cured with 12 weeks of Harvoni+ribavirin. She also received her drugs through a clinical trial in 2014, I believe. Maybe Lucinda will chime in. She was genotype 1.

Despite the various clinical trials of the Harvoni+riba combo, and the great success of this combo on people in these trials (New Zealand success rate for geno 3's on Harvoni+riba was 100%), I don't believe it is listed anywhere as a recommended treatment for any genotype. I am not sure why.

What is your genotype, Pete? And do you have cirrhosis (F4) by any chance? You will almost certainly be cured by this combo you are on. The ribavirin can cause a variety of side effects. My biggest problem was the hemolytic anemia. Most people recover from it pretty quickly after treatment ends. I am 10 weeks post-treatment and still trying to pull out of it. But very happy to be free of Hep C after 45 years of living with it! :)

best,
kim

And here is a long thread where a number of us on Harvoni+Ribavirin discussed our experience on treatment (most of us are finished now):
