Welcome to the forums, Jon! And congratulations on starting treatment. You are, in all likelihood, going to be cured in just a few months. I lived with Hep C for 45 years before being cured a few months ago with 12 weeks of Harvoni.

Yes, the pricing on these drugs is outrageous. Buying generic versions overseas is another option. It is a route an increasing number of people are going. Much cheaper. Are you covered for the full 12 weeks? Or longer?

Good luck, and welcome aboard! :)

Hi Jon
Have you looked into my support part harvoni for the copay assistance they offer?

https://www.harvoni.com/support-and-savings/co-pay-coupon-registration

Eligible patients may pay no more than $5 per co-pay for HARVONI

We believe that cost should not be a barrier to receiving treatment. That’s why the makers of HARVONI offer a co-pay coupon. If you are eligible, you may pay no more than $5 per co-pay. Need a replacement coupon?

Please note the following:

You are not eligible if you are enrolled in a government healthcare prescription drug program such as Medicare Part D or Medicaid. This includes when you are in the Medicare Part D coverage gap known as the "donut hole."
The HARVONI Co-pay Coupon Program will cover the out-of-pocket costs of your HARVONI prescriptions up to a maximum of 25% of the catalog price of a 12-week regimen of HARVONI. See Terms and Conditions below.

Check your eligibility

*Are you a current resident of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Virgin Islands?

 Yes No
*Are your prescriptions paid for in part or in full by any state- or federally funded program, including but not limited to Medicare or Medicaid, Medigap, VA, DOD, or TRICARE? Please note that Medicare Part D enrollees, while in the prescription drug coverage gap (the "donut hole"), are not eligible for the co-pay coupon.

 Yes No
*If you begin receiving prescription benefits from such state- or federally funded programs at any time, you will no longer be eligible to use the co-pay coupon. Do you acknowledge your agreement with this statement?

 Yes No

Welcome Jon!  I'm sure you'll do well.  Make sure and check out the co-pay link that Lynn posted.  As of July 1st 2015, Gilead (makers of Harvoni) changed their patient assistant program and I no longer qualified.  BUT!  I did still qualify for their co-pay coupon (face value of around $25,000).

I too had a really high co-pay and deductible.  The coupon paid for everything.  12 weeks of treatment, zero $ out-of-pocket!

Hi Jon

Yes, definitely check out the copay coupon as mentioned by previous posters. I, also, was going to have to pay $8k per month after insurance paid their portion.  My GI doctor said there was no way they were going to let me pay that amt, and within a day a rep called, and I was approved for the coupon. I pay $5 per month for my 28 day supply.

Best wishes.
