2 more days on Harvoni & insomnia
« on: February 25, 2016, 04:22:01 pm »
Hello fabulous warriors

From a true insomniac (3 sleep studies) I have experienced a much harder time sleeping while just on the Harvoni alone.  Sometimes a sleeping pill doesn't work.  Any advice what worked for you if you experienced insomnia before harvoni and still experience it.  Note I'm totally caffeine free and have been.  I truly do not like the sleeping pill effect the next day at all not want to have to depend on that.

Thanks.

Hey Jack,

As an inveterate insomniac, I wound up taking diphenhydramine (benadryl) almost every night while on treatment.. There were no proven negative interactions with Harvoni, and while I would much rather have taken nothing, I reasoned that not sleeping during treatment was likely negatively impactful on my immune system.   Did the trick pretty well.  There is a thread about  insomnia post treatment you might be interested in:

Good morning Jack,
Congratulations getting here. You're almost done.I have a terrible time sleeping but I've been using Aleve PM.I take 2 of them about a hour or 2 before I want to go to sleep and they really do help with the sleep and pain(bad back). They also don't give you a drugged feeling the next day.If you try it let me know if it works for you.

When you get over to the other side could you mow some of this really green grass for us? 8)
