Welcome to the forums, Debbie,. And congrats on starting treatment! Don't forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day while on treatment. It can really help with side effects - especially headaches. Treatment seems to have a dehydrating effect.

best,
kim

Hi Debbie. I started sovaldi/daklinza today and already feeling the same dehydration and like I've been in the sun too long and my mouth feels tender.  Im not finding many posts on this combo treatment but I'll share with you any effects I encounter. Good luck to you.

Hi Debbie and FB!
I am coming up on 4 weeks post tx of Sovaldi and Daklinza - not a lot of us out here.  Kim's recommendation of keeping well hydrated is my best advice also.  If you can work out, I think that does really help too.  I had lots of aches and pains (not to mention fatigue) prior to starting tx.  I found I got more achy when I was less active, but need to be careful not to overdo also.

In terms of side effects, everyone is different, but mine were very, very mild:  an occasional headache and at times I felt a bit 'activated' while on the med.  It is hard to explain what I mean by 'activated' other than to say I felt times were I had an increase in energy level.  I actually enjoyed the added energy especially since it wasn't constant and wasn't accompanied by any anxiety.

Best of luck to you both.  You will get thru this.

Thanks for the encouragement Mary.  I want to be just like you.  :) Like you and Debbie I'm very active and exercise hard but don't feel like doing much right now.

I just completed 12 weeks of Sovaldi+Daklinza with little complications.  I've been (AST/ALT/HCVlog)=(25/17/0) since week four so I'm optimistic the treatment will stick.  As others have mentioned the first couple weeks were rough but then the body mellows out with the drug and some headache and moodiness and fatigue are left.  I never had the energy boost everyone talks about.  I would have a couple days of good energy and then it was back to fatigue.  I found eating potassium rich foods helped and drinking mineral water.  I also exercise often in my gym and running.  This drug combo is a big step forward compared to the beating one gets with interferon/ribavirin. I've been there.  If your doctor is recommending a ribavirin cocktail talk with them seriously about this new treatment.
