Scared to start treatment
« on: May 26, 2016, 09:10:13 am »
I'm new to this anyways found out last November that I have hep c doctors said I got it from transfusion when I was younger after my open heart surgery so I've had it about 30 years.  My liver is still in good shape and all my concern is my other meds I'm on  I take digoxin, metoprolol, linsinopril and warfarin I'm more concern about the digoxin and metoprolol my doctors said it will be fine and they will cut my digoxin dose down but I'm still scared.  Anyone out there that has taken digoxin with Harvoni? Or even metoprolol with it?

Hi Rk,

Welcome!  I was quite nervous about starting Harvoni and I only take a thyroid med.   If you have any reason to doubt what they are telling you, then maybe consult with another Doctor before starting treatment.  I would talk to a Pharmacist at Gilead, Support Path too. Best of luck!  Brie

I found this

http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/harvoni-with-lisinopril-3567-16903-1476-0.html

Interactions between your selected drugs

There were no interactions found in our database between Harvoni and lisinopril

However, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

The prescribing information sheet for Harvoni has:

Coadministration of HARVONI with digoxin may increase the concentration of digoxin. Therapeutic concentration monitoring of digoxin is recommended when coadministered with HARVONI.

Would explain why they would consider reducing your digoxin
