On Treatment ( Round 2)
« on: June 27, 2016, 02:04:31 am »
Hey I get to post in the "On Treatment" section again!

Insurance Update - After a pair of failed appeals, my hepatologist set up a peer to peer review with someone (that has a brain) at my insurance company.  Now with that sorted out, I will be starting my first dose of the Viekira Pak / Ribavirin in the morning.

Liver Cancer Update - The results of my 90 day post op CT liver scan indicates there are no discernible signs of tumors present at this time.  Fingers crossed, next scan in Sept.

Other good news - My son and his lovely new bride were married in Seattle last evening in a wonderful ceremony!  I couldn't be happier for them or more proud as a parent.

Not that I'm all that excited about the 24 week treatment adventure, I've just need to get started.  I feel there's some positive energy going' on in my life at this moment, so I may as well try to take advantage of it.  Wish me luck and I'll keep posting here along the ride.

Regards,
Pete

Hi, Pete! I'm relatively new around here, so not familiar with your prior treatment history. I'm assuming you were a Harvoni relapser? I'm really glad to hear you're starting treatment again, and the tumour clear news is even better. Congratulations! Looking forward to following your treatment updates.

Pete, the stars seem to be in alignment for you now. After the cancer and the 12-week Harvoni relapse and the misread liver scan, you've got your wish for a 24-week treatment. Most of all, you used the cancer scare to improve all areas of your life.

Up and at 'em!

Gnatty

P.S. If you could make a signature file summarizing your past adventures, it'd help others know about your whole journey. (I scanned through your past posts, but not everyone knows how to do that.)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and positive vibe!

Rosa, your are correct.  The 12 week Harvoni treatment didn't work out in my favor.  And Gnatty, you are so right, the mis-read on the liver scan was probably the low point. I was so good to hear the surgeon tell me , "You don't have to see me any more...you're good to go"

Anyway, day 1 is uneventful thus far (no complaints).  I will say drinking 3 qts of water every day is going to be interesting.  If I recall, the PA said like 8-12 oz per hour.  I just read something about too much water can cause an electrolyte  imbalance.

Thanks, Pete
