Hep A and B vaccines while on Harvoni
« on: December 05, 2016, 01:44:33 pm »
I had a check up with my gastro today and she said I should get the Hep A and Hep B vaccines.  I asked how long after treatment and she said, "You can get them now."  I have 9 more days of Harvoni!!!  I have met my total out-of-pocket expense through my insurance and would like to at last get the first of the series done.  Has anyone else taken these vaccines while still in treatment with Harvoni?

If your doctor has said it is ok I would go for it.

I have had those vaccines but not on treatment but as your doctor has said it is ok it should make no difference.

With vaccines the rule of thumb is the sooner the better - they don't interact with meds - they wok on a completely different system. Best not to get them when you are acutely sick (like if you have the flu).

Thanks guys!  I will get started right away then.

I had blood work done 5 weeks after starting Harvoni and got excellent news.  Harvoni is working!  I was undetected and my AST was 26 and ALT was 22!!!! My doctor gave me my lab order for recheck in March of 2017 and she said if those results were what she was expecting...she didn't need to see me anymore!  She said I could log onto the my FollowMyHealth account and see the results and if my results were wonky...I could call and make an appointment...if not...have a happy life!

How wonderful. Please check in with us after you have those last labs done so we can celebrate some more.
