Hep b test conclusive ?
« on: May 03, 2020, 09:42:47 am »
Hey i had a encounter with a csw couple of months ago did a couple of hbv tests . 6 weeks it was negative (hbsag , core and igg test )
9 weeks it was negative (hbsag, core, igg)
13 weeks it was negative (hbsag, ccore, igg)
Liver tests also normal (alt)
No symptoms 5 months after (jaundice)
I also tested negative for hep c after 3 months is that somehow conclusive ?

For peace of mind i also took a pcr test for hep b at 95 days after risky situation.

Question is am i fine ? Everything came back negative .
No further tests?
Why does it says it can take up to 6 months to detect it ?

I guess you get asked this often but i would appreciate every answer :).
Thanks in advance :)

The reason is says up to 6 months for a conclusive result on a hep c antibody test is because for people who are immune compromised like those with HIV, people undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, and those who have had an organ transplant and taking anti-rejection drugs it can take up to 6 months for the body to create enough antibodies to rise to detectable levels.

Yes your tests are conclusive. However, I’m not a medical person for medical advice you should ask your personal health care provider.

Thank you so much for your answer i just needed a little reassurance for that , i also got my first two shots of hep b , the first right after the pcr test and the second 3 weeks ago , do you think it would show up on a titer test now ? I just want to be 100% sure that i indeed did not contracted it , sorry for beeing annoying .

I’m not a doctor that question would most assuredly best be asked of your medical professional. If you have been immunized for hepatitis b you should show as having Hepatitis B antibodies as that is the point of being immunized to create antibodies to fight off any future possible hepatitis B infection. Unfortunately having hep c antibodies affords no such protection from hep c infection which is the primary reason there currently is no vaccine for hep c currently available.

I’m assuming your doctor told you you were negative for both hep b and hep c. Given the time intervals you waited prior to testing no further testing should be needed.

For an Informed medical opinion please ask you personal physician. I am not employed in the medical fiend and have no medical training. This is a community of patients and primarily for support to share our experiences living with illness. We cannot offer diagnostic advise or medical opinion only what we can find on the internet from respected sources and our own personal experiences.

I guess one suggestion I do have is that if you fear contracting blood borne illnesses perhaps you should avoid having sexual contact with sex workers in the future. Also it does seem to me from our conversation you may have anxiety issues you should consider getting counseling for anxiety if that is the case and possibly some anti-anxiety medication.

Best of luck

Thanks for your honest answer , i will definetly avoid to put myself in such a position in the future . I will ask the health care workers at the checkpoint what they think , maybe get tested at 6 months a last time , to put a end to this . Thanks you for your advice , everybody here the best of luck :) !
