I got at my local paper store. Very nice. A good step toward helping raise awareness of the risks. I would guess the readers are the target age too.

I would have liked to see a celebrity or two involved. I thought the guy on the back was at first but I guess he is just a model.

An added bonus -- now we know what Tim Horn looks like!

I got it! Thanks for spreading the word.

Bummer they include other inserts too. Would have been nice to stand out. Fingers crossed people find it, read it and get tested!

I didn't get out to the store to pick one up but I did read the digital version. Excellent top line information around Hep C. I really hope people pick this up and get tested or pass it along to those at risk. As the new treatments get here it should be easier and easier to get cured and save yourself some major problems.

I saw it, does anyone know if post liver transplant recipients are candidates for the new protease combo treatment?

Wow! Glad to know the insert has been seen... and is being read!

Wife... Your question is an excellent one. Unfortunately, as it sounds as if you already know, hep C almost always comes back after liver transplantation if treatment wasn't successful before surgery. This is because HCV is in the bloodstream as well as the liver. It's also unfortunate that medications to prevent the immune system from rejecting the new liver can possibly lead to to faster hepatitis C progression.

Hepatitis C can be treated after liver transplantation, but side effects can be severe. Cure rates using pegylated interferon and ribavirin among transplant recipients with HCV genotype 1 are approximately 25 percent; they are higher for people with HCV genotypes 2 and 3.

HCV protease inhibitors have not yet been studied in liver transplant recipients. In turn, we have no idea how well these drugs work in transplant recipients, nor do we know if there are any special safety concerns. However, this does not mean that they can't be used. The key here is to work with a hepatologist or other hepatitis C specialist who is familiar with this important class of drugs and is up on the latest information regarding their use in combination with other meds, notably anti-transplant rejection drugs.

Please let us know what you learn!

Thank you Tim Horn from Wife of Liver Transplant recipient.  I certainly will keep the forum updated on what I learn about post transplant HCV therapy with protease inhibitors. It seems studies may be in the works, so it may be a while before we know the response rate and tolerance for transplant recipients with recurring HCV.

Yes--it looks wonderful, full of good information. Hope this helps people find the time, and the courage, to go and get tested.
