New Clinical Guidelines Prioritize Care Among Hep C Patients
« on: August 12, 2014, 11:29:18 am »
The highest priority will be given to those who have advanced fibrosis, compensated cirrhosis and to those who have had a liver transplant. High priority will be given to those who are at significant risk for liver-related complications and severe hep C-related complications that are not related to the liver.

The need to set up this hierarchy of care, said liver experts, arises from the fact that there are not currently enough specialists available to meet the potential demand for treatment.

Comment,
Some Doctors are satisfied with an UltraSound result. They do not tell a complete story. Just months after I got a "Good" report of only fatty liver, I took it upon myself to go to a specialist. I chose a Hepatologist and asked for a fibrosure or fibroscan test of which he was going to prescribe anyway. Turned out I was Stage 3 fibrosis bridging, which is advanced enough. Why wait for permanent damage such as scarring cirrhosis? Within 10 days I had my treatment at my door, Sovaldi/Ribavirin
and in 4 weeks am undetected for hepc virus.  My advice is go to a specialist and get the latest advance tests, to get the truth if you are advanced enough for treatment.

Thanks Lucinda,
I appreciate your blog and comments on the forum. I actually decided to try the new treatment by first reading testimonies and your blogs on this forum. In a matter of a few months I can look into my Grandchildren's eyes and believe I have a future in their lives.
