Yep--that's how many pills in a 24 week treatment. As of today I have five weeks left. Go see my Doc tomorrow for another useless visit. He will give me the results of a Oct. 3rd blood draw. Stupid--I should have known then. This is an example of the care I have had. Sure am thinking about telling him off tomorrow.

Where ya been hiding DesertGuy? In the garage with your music blaring?

Missed your dry sense of humor, brings me back to reality which I am on the verge of losing every other minute these days. I get so aggravated by everything, and just have to deal because I don't even have the strength to rage.

If you do, I say go for it if it makes you feel better. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that one so it's kind of selfish of me to encourage poor behaviors, aka I am an instigator. Maybe this jerk of a doctor will think twice about how he treats his patients and maybe it'll help that person who is too timid to stand up and say something.

Sounds like your doing good Desertguy other than dr, they are trying to sound educated about this whole mess, some more than others. These treatments are so new, expensive, they are also getting screwed by this whole new scam and they also are now starting to speak up.They were overjoyed to hear these new meds were working, and not like the old days where they too were just going thru the motions like THIER patients and hated not being able to do what a Dr does . " heal" Now for a while they have seen happy faces and good results it has made them feel better too but of course it's now back to the horror story's of THESE MEDS WORK! Why are you putting my patients and STAFF THRU ALL THIS BULL. THIER people in THIER offices that handle the approvals etc. Are sick of this run around too which is causing wasted time and money. I wouldn't want to be a Dr today. Everyone thinks THIER all MILLIONAREs but once again Shit runs downhill.  "Just  " willie g

3 weeks post 12wk S/R treatment.  I guess i'm still "undetected".  I can't say i'm feeling better because I am having a hard time kicking the flu/sinus infection even with antibiotics.  My Nurse Practitioner says I should be brimming with energy in two weeks, still waiting.  I just don't believe that this is a cure.  All my logic tells me that if I could have had HepC dormant in me for 30 or 40 years who's to say it just isn't dormant again now and the minute I add alcohol or too much sugar or something it will rear it's ugly head again???  Maybe I've become pessimistic but is it really a "Cure" or is it like breast cancer and it's in remission.  I guess I need to educate myself more but I just can't fathom calling it a cure with no long term research.  Happy to see Willie, Mel and Dessert Guy hanging in there.  Any word from Rainbow Ray?  Peace!

Hi HepC53,

Hep-C is a RNA virus and must continually replicate itself to stay alive. Therefore, if you kill every last virus, there are none left to replicate - meaning your virus free.

If this holds 12 weeks after discontinuation of treatment (sustained virological response/SVR12), you are cured.

Also, there are research studies going back to the 90's that supports this. No virus; no replication = no longer infected with the Hep-C virus.

My medical records reflect this and indicate that I'm cured of Hep-C.

Best wishes, Mike

Yep, 24 weeks = 1176 pills. I know all about it except I did not count them.
I end the same day as desertguy. I will have my viral load and blood labs from the Dr. on the 18th of December, but I will pull them from the Admin at least a week before that. I won't wait for the appointment. I see no reason for any bad report at the end of treatment. My Doctor said to just come in after the last 12 weeks of treatment and get the test done in the lab about a week before the 18th. I went and got a
full comprehensive panel on my own( kidney, cholesterol ,diabetes, blood counts, liver panel,  and a AF Protein L-3% for a liver cancer marker because I have concern for an ache at the bottom right of my rib cage by the gall bladder. Then an ultra sound of the liver. The report shows no enlargement of the liver or whatever. All came back better than ever as my liver was swollen 5 months ago. I have cut the Ribavirn dose per ok from the Doctor and getting ready for a Disney Land vacation with my two grand daughters on the first week of December. I still plug away everyday at work.
I am finishing the day as I type. I also have the energy to start setting up a Christmas Tree lot for my church next week. I get tired, but pushing myself is the key I believe for better chance at CURE.  I expect to report a good outcome 4 months from now.  Believe, Faith, Hope, Charity, and all else that is good.
