Understanding the FibroSure Test results from LabCorp
« on: November 29, 2014, 06:04:22 am »
Hi All,

Sitting up in the middle of the night again and decided to look at all my blood work since June when this all began. I had paid something with my FSA for my IDHero and I was trying to get numbers to match so I could send in the backup documentation they want, always something right?

Well anyway I am starting to working on a comparison spreadsheet with my lab results.  I am a tiny bit more educated about this beast I was really looking at the tests that were run and understanding them better UNTIL I got to the Fibrosure results and I realized I still didn't quite understand them so I went searching and found this PDF explaining it without it being overly complicated. Hope it helps some of you: http://www.hemophilia.co.il/documents/Fibrotest.pdf

No Pie for me, not that I needed it anyway! I checked the original along with the final report but no luck. I really like how I can get all the results online and now save everything to a Google Drive. Should I email Labcorp and ask for a Pie Chart?

No reason really, it just looked cool. One thing that it did show was how wide a range the results could be interrupted and that it wasn't an exact test. My IDS only using them as a guide for people who haven't had a biopsy yet. After I was harpooned in the side she quit doing them on me.

In looking at the study results, the FibroSure had a Pearson’s R Correlation score ranging from .70 to .80, when compared to a liver biopsy. This means a possible error rate of 30%.

Although a correlation of .70 is statistically significant, it is by no means as conclusive as a biopsy.

Best wishes, Mike

My IDHero took pity on me and didn't make me get stabbed or harpooned in the side since I got stabbed in the neck for a wrong diagnosis. He said unless I was going on a clinical trial it could wait.

I ended up approved so fast on the S/O we didn't have time to blink, let alone harpooned.  ;)

I hope mine is off by 30%, that could be great news for me!

Hi BattleTheBeast,

I had a liver biopsy and equate it with volunteering to be shot.

I would certainly take the FibroSure/Fibroscan over another biopsy (unless  there was a clinical reason to have the biopsy over the others).

Best wishes, Mike
