Havoni Treatment
« on: January 03, 2015, 11:30:47 am »
I had a blood transfusion in 1980 and at that time I was concerned about HIV so I was getting tested every year for that.  It wasn't until a cousin passed that I became aware of Hep C.  Every year I get a physical and nothing never showed up. I requested the test and tested positive in 2012.  My levels were 2,269,540.  I began researching and visited at least 3 doctors. In 2013 my levels had raised to 3,909,882, liver test came back normal, fibrospectII was F0-F1 <9 and sonagram impression was normal liver. In 2014 I attempted to go for clinical trails but was unable to find any to join. I continued to monitor my health.  I heard about Havoni in October and decided yesterday to go for treatment.  My insurance will cover it and I will start as soon as possible for 8 weeks. I am praying that this new medicine will cure us all.

Hi All
My first post. I'm 1a genotype with 4.9 million viral load. I was diagnosed in 1997 I started Harvoni on Dec 26. My side effects have been headaches and fatigue. I drink lots of water taking Tylenol daily which I don't know if that is the best thing to do. I seem to have diarrhea every morning. I take the pill at 9 am. I had no problem getting the medication free of charge. Any questions I can answer please ask. God bless all in your quest to fight this virus.

Lporterrn I failed to mention that I am 1B and in 2014 my levels were 2,017,239.  Can you explain why the levels raise and decrease?

@Sacheen, Maybe your side effects subsided after two weeks.  Praying for you.

Welcome ! Glad to hear you are getting Harvoni. I also contracted from a blood transfusions in 1977. Viral loads will fluctuate, mine have gone up and down the last 12 years ranging from 300k to 6 mil. My hepatologist told me not to worry about the viral loads. The main concern is fibrosis to the liver. Have had 2 biopsies and most recently a Fibrospect II that had a score of 71.  I'm on day 24 Harvoni and have had headaches as well. I take Tylenol but only 500mg( 1 extra strength ) when I really needed to, only about 3 or 4 times so far.  Take my dose at 945 am everyday. Have had other side effects but they have really been minimal.

Thank you for the encouragement. Haven't had a headache all day until now. I'm taking 500 mg Tylenol when it gets bad but I was told not to exceed 2000mg per day. Someone said they have gained weight since on Harvoni I know I'm hungry a lot so I hope that doesn't happen. ;D
Thank you again DeeDee for your prayers. Back at you
