Viekira Pak and acne
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:46:25 am »
Hello all,

I've been on Viekria Pak for 10 weeks (my doc took me off Ribavirin 1 week into treatment because of severe adverse effects).  The good news is that at 4 weeks I was undetectable! So happy to be almost through with treatment and hopefully Hep C -free long term.

My question is - has anyone had issues with acne on this protocol? It started about 2 weeks ago and keeps getting worse.  I have major breakouts all over my face, neck, back and arms.  I've never had acne in my life!

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Peace,

Raena

Some DAAs have been associated with severe, life-threatening skin reactions (e.g., spreading rashes).  If you haven't already, let your Doctor know soon.

I don't have any advice - it's not a side effect I've had. But I too had to have my ribavirin dose cut back due to some serious issues with side effects and have been worried about the effectiveness of it. I had a VL of 45 at 2 weeks and that's when they picked the problems up in my blood test results, so I'll be interested to see what it is at 4 with the riba reduction.

Thanks for your reassurance - even though you didn't know you were giving it! lol

Rashes.
My doc did warn me about sun exposure/reaction on V Pack treatment and that this could cause an intolerable rash - severe- that could start anywhere and would spread and not go away for length of treatment. Does this sound like what you have?

The great news though is that you only have two. more. weeks. WOOT!
