Hello All,  I'm new and not sure how to post my information and talk with you all.  How do I do that?
Diagnosed 2003 with Hep C and cirrhosis but probably got hep c in the 70s
Tried Interferon and ribavirin for 6 months - no luck - 2003
Diagnosed 2011 with liver cancer and told I needed a liver transplant
Tried Telepravir and ribavirin to clear up Hep C before transplant - got bad rash and had to quit
Tried Bocepavir and ribaviran - didn't work
Got transplant in Jan. 2012 but still had Hep C
Started Harvoni and ribavirin on Feb. 11 - undetected after 2 weeks!!

My Dr said it's fine in moderation. If it were legal in my state, I'd totally use it to help with the side effects.

If you can ingest it, that's better for you than smoking it. I'm saying that as someone that smokes cigarettes.

Hi dog lover, I wanted to ask how you are doing after your transplant?
How is life after transplant? Are you able to work and live as before?
Do you have to take anti rejection rx's?

Hope you clear hcv soon!

Hi BubbaT,

Life is great after transplant.  It wasn't really all that bad believe it or not.  I was up and going pretty soon after.  I still have to be careful of my stomach area (it's been 3 years) but I'm very protective of my new liver!  I think it might be why I worry so much!!  I didn't use to be this way.  I'll have to take anti-rejection pills forever.  But it is a small price to pay, they have no side effects that I know of but you "have" to take them!

It's been 3 years and they test me for everything constantly it seems until 5 years.

I feel so lucky but still feel sorry for myself at times!!

Hi dog lover,

I think you are courageous and I commend you for how far you have come, dr said I was f4, and I have waited for Harvoni really since 95, and it has been difficult but, I have a faith in God that propels me forward, I'm kinda like
In my attitude where I want to fight and get well, for so long I felt like I was in a fight with an enemy I could not beat, but now I approach each day with confidence and determination to get well, I'm 57 and prolly been +since 76, I am close to week 3 now and feeling better.

What makes you feel sorry?  I hope you continue to get better and live a happy life...

I take courage from your story....

Thanks BubbaT.  You are right, I have no right to ever feel sorry for myself!  It must be the medication! Ha!  I blame everything on that these days.  Sounds like you've been on the same journey as me except for the transplant that is.  I'm surprised you never tried the old not cures.  I'm Undetected now and I sure hope it stays that way.  I'm working on learning to live life one moment at a time but it's work for me!  I'm always fighting worry.

Good luck, I hope we've found the cure finally!

Hi Dog lover and welcome

Congrats on the successful transplant.

I was dx in 1990 with hep c and probably got hep c in 1978 or 1979.

I treated with interferon mono-therapy and 2 times with interferon riba. I was a null responder.

I was dx with cirrhosis in Jan 2008 so by the time telaprevir was approved they wouldn't it let me try it as the odds of success were about 14% and the odds were higher it could cause me to decompensate.

Since my dx with cirrhosis I have been waiting for a treatment and hoping I don't either decompensate or develop HCC like you did.

I treated last year with Sovaldi Olysio for 12 weeks. I was not detected at week 4 and week 12 EOT, but after tx ended when tested 12 weeks post I was found to have relapsed.

So now I am taking Harvoni for 24 weeks with riba add at week 9. I have 7 weeks to go on treatment.

Good luck my fellow warriors
