Early on Results of Treatment
« on: March 15, 2015, 10:54:37 pm »
I began treatment on Harvoni February 10th. Two weeks later I had my first set of labs drawn to see if I was responding to treatment. I met with my doctor on March 9th to learn my results. My viral load that had previously north of 1,425,000 had dropped to "46" .... after having been on this medication for just two weeks.

Unbelievable !!! :)

As previously noted in a prior thread I had gone through a full year of Pegasus and Ribavarin nearly 14 years ago and was deemed a non-responder. One of the worst years of my life.

My level or stage of Hep C is currently between a 1-2 accordind to biopsies. I have been very lucky that has remained rather dormant all of these years, for lack of a better description.

I have now completed nearly 5 weeks of Harvoni with 7 more weeks to go. Next set of labs were drawn following my doctors visit. Conceivably, I may test undetectable next time I get seen.

Hooray for Insurance, Science, Gilead  Pharmaceuticals and Harvoni - a Wonder Drug !!!

Hopefully everyone will get these same results if not better. Wishing everyone lots of luck and Great Results !!!

Sounds like you are well on your way to being cured. Those are great results. Keep us informed of your progress. I was done my twelve weeks on Feb 22nd and see my doctor on Friday to see how my end of treatment results look. I was like you had a very low viral load at two weeks and was undetected at four weeks. I am sure my end of treatment results will still be undetected. Its going to be the next few months that will count. I wish you all the luck for a hep free future. Amy

Hey Amy1662,

Thanks for your well wishes !

Hep is a weird disease. I know I contracted it in the late 70's due to stupid choices. Fortunately, for some unknown reason it has remained somewhat benign all of these years.

It sure is encouraging that this latest set of miracle drugs have been able tp have been brought to market during our lifetime.

I hope we all are fortunate enough to realize the positive results that many others are experiencing.  :)

Peter

Hi Pete,
I say my "Amen" to everything you've written. I'm just about a week behind you on Harvoni, having begun on February 19th. It has been tough, since I really had no symptoms all these 20-30 years, so feeling sick now (nausea, anxiety, weakness, some brain fog) is difficult, but a very small price to pay compared to treatments others have endured.
Just saw my G.I. Doc last week. He told me that before treatment my liver enzymes were twice the normal range, and that my 2-weak labs showed my liver enzymes are now normal - praise God, and bless all those others you mentioned!
Tomorrow, at 4 weeks done, I'll have more extensive labs taken to show the viral load, which is the real indicator, but I am really optimistic and thrilled and blessed to have this totally unexpected opportunity for a longer, healthier, more productive life, sharing God's amazing grace.
Blessings to you,
Victori
