Good news on harvoni
« on: March 23, 2015, 01:16:00 pm »
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum so I hope that I am posting this correct.  I have had hep c for several years (Iam 62 yrs. young) the geno is type 1. Anyway I have been taking harvoni since March 11,2015. I had an appointment with my liver doctor on March 19, well the day before my appointment the doctors office called and said that I missed a bloodwork appointment. So I agreed to get it done before my appointment, hoping there would be some kind of indication as to how the harvoni was working. It had only been 8 days of harvoni use when I seen my doctor. I was hoping for a small change in my viral load. Well to my surprise it went from 6 million viral load when I started to 404 after only 8 days. I asked is that 404 million he said no 404. Needless to say Iam happy as heck with this info. He said by my April 8 appointment it will be undetectable. I still have to go the full 6 months of treatment.  As far as side effects so far I have had none.  This drug is a godsend and it looks like I will be virus free when I am finished. Harvoni is gonna wipe this virus out. Thanks for listening.

Hello my friends!

Haven't been on in awhile and after 12 weeks on Harvoni my HCV is UNDETECTED! ;D.  I go for blood work again in 3 months...so relieved and thankful to God for this second chance.  I wish my husband was alive to share this news with but I know he knows.  It's been a long journey...keep your chins up, stay positive and can't wait to read all of your good news at the end of your journey

Congratulation Tutu. I am almost in the same boat. I finish up 12 weeks of treatment on Thursday. I hope I get the same result. I should as I have been UND since the first Viral load at 4 weeks. You can now go off knowing you did your best and the rest is up to your body.  Great news and I wish you good health and happiness!

Best wishes,

Thanks everyone on the kind remarks. It sure is nice to know we have a cure in our grasps.  I just found out that my buddy out west who also has hep c just went for his 1 month check up and his results were that the virus was undetectable. Which is great news.  I suspect that he got it the same time I did. Don't know for sure tho.  I asked my doctor if two people got the virus at the same time would it progress at the same time? He told me no cause there are a lot of variables from person to person.  Therefore he hasn't progressed as far as I did.  He only has to go for 8 weeks I guess.  I thought the minimum was 12 weeks.  Oh well he got great news tho.
