Only 4 Days to Go
« on: April 12, 2015, 08:46:21 pm »
Hello Everyone On Hepatitis C Treatment,
I've been reading a lot of your posts today, mostly because this has been my worst day yet (Day 52 of 56). Just couldn't seem to get myself together but made it to Church, finished Sunday School and got so dizzy and shaky I came straight home, a little scared to say the least. Had a feeling this last week might be tough.
Am going to stay here 'til treatment is finished this Wednesday, then see my G.I. Thursday.
I am not surprised at how I feel. My labs were so good at 4 weeks in I'm sure I'm virus free, so Harvoni is affecting me strongly with little or no virus to attack (my conjecture).
I've read so many posts from patients who are disappointed with very early (2 weeks in) labs. It seems many folks are comparing themselves to others' results, which is probably fruitless and frustrating.
We are all so different and our circumstances so different it doesn't seem good to expect similar results. I feel so blessed that I have not had any expectations from this treatment - hopes, yes - but certainly not expecting results just like anyone else's. Always hoping for the best, but I guess I've been so blown away that all of a sudden this treatment became available and was approved for me, I've just prayed for God's will to be done and counted on His healing, hoping and praying it is His will for me and for the rest of my life to be free from HCV.
My symptoms/side effects have been different from yours - some more severe, some less. All of our stats have been so varied, even our treatment protocols and other medications are all different (I'm on straight Harvoni), no one person has all the same as anyone else. And I was floored, amazed, beyond delighted to learn my V/L went from 1,005,145 to 15 in just 4 weeks! I sure didn't expect to be undetected half way thru treatment. I've even read posts from those of you who did not become undetected until weeks after treatment ended.
So, bottom line, keep hoping and praying for the best outcome, for you as an amazing and unique individual, and all of us will keep hoping and praying the same as well!

Hi victori,

Good news only 4 more pills, how awesome is that?
I believe faith in God is just as important as the medicine, like you, I waited a very long time for a treatment that showed success, I opted to wait for a proven medicine.

We all have a journey from God, some of us are very fortunate to get this medicine at this time, I have read and watched many utube clips about transplanted persons who took Harvoni after their transplant, and have cleared the virus...

We have a common bond walking thru this treatment together, I have learned to be kind to others and God shows me kindness....  It's an awesome gift to be safe in his arms should our time be short...

God bless

What a funny typo! I really meant to title that post "Only 4 Days to Go"!!!
God's already here. He's blessed my life so abundantly if I die this minute I'll still be praising and thanking Him! Another funny thing - I just realized I gave my life to God's care and asked Jesus into my heart not long after I probably contracted HCV. I didn't know about the disease for another decade after that, but it seems the good Lord had already decided to save me from its devastation.
Thank you all once again for your encouraging support.
I'm praying for every one of you for the very best outcome of your treatment.
I read somewhere that Harvoni is the very first virus cure. That true?
If so, we're really the first generation born of this miracle of modern science. Will we be Gen UD?
Hope so!
Blessings,
Victori

    Hi Victori

The old standard of care interferon and ribavirin and later the addition of teleprevir did cure many people I think about in general 50% but people like myself multiple null responders with cirrhosis the old treatment had about a 14% chance of working so it depended on genotype prior treatment history and how much liver damage.

But yes the new meds so far have been doing a great job I hope they work for an old dragon warrior like myself

    Good luck on treatment
    Genotype 1a
