Relapse 1.5 years post treatment

Hi. I wanted to introduce myself....I live in Ontario,  Canada, and was diagnosed in July 2010 with Geno 1. I was extremely lucky, and had little to no liver scarring. My viral load was extremely high though (I'm sorry, I don't have the actual numbers). I started Sovaldi and Peg treatment in April 2014. First 2 weeks in I tested positive still, but my viral load was so low it didn't even have an actual count number. By May 2014 I was testing undetected. I completed 4 week, 6 week, 12 week test. All undetected. I tested again in July (my doctor wanted a 1 year)...however because I went I  2 weeks early, he said to come back. That test result was STILL undetected. I went back Oct 4, and the results came back DETECTED but the viral load is so low that it's not even on the scale.
There is no chance whatsoever of reinfection from anything.
Has anybody went back 1 to 2 years post treatment and found a relapse?

Im no doctor, but Im not sure Id describe what youre experiencing with a viral load < LLOQ after 1.5 yrs as a relapse..  Generally if the virus is coming back it does so with a vengeance in much bigger numbers than that.   Im not sure what the test is measuring, but that count sounds awfully low for a relapse this long after treatment.  Speak to the doctor and get a lab req to test again asap. 

You were on a drug combo we dont see much of here in the states, but with Harvoni, I havent seen any cases of long term relapse; generally, 12 wks is considered the cure point.  Not sure how it is with your combo, but your < LLOQ count probably warrants another test soon.   Best of luck to you.

My combo was Sovaldi,  Ribavarin, and Peginterferon.  I thought that was pretty much the same in the US as here, prior to the new combo. The one thing I did read was that most don't go back for retesting after a year, so it is possible that more people have "relapsed " but aren't aware. I'm going for bloodwork again next week, and meeting with the doctor near the end of November.
There's no way I could have been infected again....I don't drink,  smoke, and I left my partner during treatment and am currently single. All things like toothbrushes I was literally replacing a couple times a week during treatment.

Round.... Yes, that combo was used here prior to Harvoni; Im just not sure of its SVR profile... But still, I think the incidence of extra long term relapse to be exceedingly rare.  What would the mechanism for relapse after 1.5 yrs even be?  HCV either replicates or dies... Really scratching my head on this one.  Ive got my fingers crossed big time  that your test next week comes back Undetected!!
