Harvoni and Lemon Water
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:57:52 pm »
Before taking Harvoni I would start my day with a glass of water with a 1/2 a
lemon squeezed into it. for the first 5 days on Harvoni I took it on a empty stomach with a glass of lemon water.
This morning something crossed my mind, if Harvoni works best with a acidic state in the stomach wouldn't drinking a glass of lemon water reduce the acid in the stomach and increase the PH and make a more alkaline state.
Just something that crossed my mind and a lot of info on this is not available

Thanks

Lemon is citric acid. So if anything it would make your stomach more acidic not less. But really we can't change our stomach acid content by much from the things we eat or drink at least not in any meaningful way.

If you take an antacid or a PPI that is another matter.

I had read a few article which stated....So I didn't know what to do
It's a citrus fruit. Inside the body however, when lemon juice has been fully metabolized and its minerals are dissociated in the bloodstream, its effect is alkalizing and therefore raises the pH of body tissue (pH above 7 is
