Life after hepatitis c
« on: May 15, 2015, 10:58:11 pm »
I just started my Harvoni treatment today, I'm 30 years young and I have been diagnosed with hep c genotype 1 since 2008. It's day 1 and I'm hoping to get rid of the virus after 8 weeks with a viral load lower than 1 million. My question is for anyone who witnessed an improvement in their quality life and health after getting rid of the virus. I'm suffering from depression, I cannot speak as fluently as I used to be before (I have to look for vocabulary), I have a lot of mental fog, low sexual drive and low energy. Does anyone think these symptoms will go away when I get rid of the virus?

Thanks and good luck for all!

Sounds like you caught it early, I'm hoping for improvements too "low sexual drive and low energy". My mind is still pretty sharp but I'll be 68 next week. Keep a positive outlook, and beat this virus, count you blessings, lymphoma, liver cancer, or transplant are not good outcomes if untreated. Being young and strong you have your whole life ahead of you.

I am 29 years old so young too. I have had hep c my entire life and have had no symptoms except for fatigue which since completing treatment has seemed to improve a bit. I  wondering in your situation have you talked to your doctor about your depression? The depression can give you all of those symptoms... Fatigue low energy low sex drive. I know it may not be the case but possibly something to look into getting your depression managed. Who knows it could all be related to the hep c. I have battled depression especially after learning of my hep status. When I found out I was depressed for years and I was in a rut! When I changed my mind set on the whole hep c issue learning to come to terms with what was out of my control and stop the thinking on why me and just down thoughts I felt much better.

I hope you clear this disease and move on to a new happy life! You are so young, these meds have a great success rate!
