New Therapy Could Help Treat Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatocellular Carcinoma or "HCC" is the most common form of liver cancer and a potential outcome of a hepatitis C virus infection. Today, the median survival from time of HCC diagnosis is about six months.

However, researchers say they may have found a way to stop harmful growth in the FGFR4 proteins, which are believed to drive some forms of liver cancer; an estimated 30% of people with the cancer may be good candidates for this new treatment.
