Newly diagnosed
« on: June 20, 2015, 10:18:57 am »
I was recently diagnosed with Hep C.  Waiting for final insurance approval to start Viekira Pak and Ribavirin.  Apparently I've had this for around 40 years, but did not display any symptoms.  I have liver scarring but still good functioning.  To add to the fun of this I also have moderate to severe COPD and Diabetes 2.  Diabetes is well maintained with meds.  COPD has flareups that are coming more frequently.  Currently I'm also being treated for bilateral pneumonia.

My job is very understanding and accommodating. My close friends are also aware of all of this so I have a pretty good support group.

I'll post more as I start treatment.

Sounds like you have quite a few health challenges going on right now. I'm not a doctor but it would seem like a good idea to get the pneumonia resolved before diving into Viekira and Ribavirin. Get your breath back as much as you can.

Good that you're getting diagnosed when there are better choices for treatment, and a cure is possible!

Wishing you good health,
