Change in SVR12 Protocol with Harvoni?
« on: August 18, 2015, 05:21:43 pm »
Hello!
I was reading on another forum that someone was told by their doctor that there has been a change in protocol to determine SVR with Harvoni. This person was told that now they are saying if achieve SVR24 you are considered "cured". Anyone hearing of this or know of any new information that would cause them to change this protocol. Lucinda - can you weigh in on this please?

I can only offer my opinion and what my Dr the head of the Liver Center at Swedish Hospital in Seattle and a liver transplant surgeon has said.

The old protocol with interferon and ribavirin was 24 weeks but last I heard they have found a 98.5% correlation with SVR 4 and SVR 24 and a 99.8% for SVR 12. I feel that the other persons doctor may be holding onto the older protocol requiring SVR 24 but many are calling SVR 12 cured including my doctor.

As I have been around with hep c for a very long time and have been a multiple treatment failure I do believe I am cured but still holding my breath until I get tested again at 24 weeks post. But I guess I am a little old school too.
